Sketch of the Day: Dressing Bench

A little Asian-themed concept designed to be used in a bedroom as a seat while dressing/undressing. Two-sided little miter tapers on the bottom of the legs, dowel rails, and an upholstered seat.

Sketch of the Day: Shoe Bench

This bench design is working off the design from yesterday’s side table and from a few suggestions. Shoes could be stored on the shelf, which is why I call this a shoe bench. I show two sizes here. Thanks to Jalet Farrell for the suggestion!

Sketch of the Day: Reading Bench

Add some cushions/pillows and this concept would make a nice reading nook. A magazine/book rack is attached on the end.
NOTE: Since it is apparently irking some who look at my sketches, please do not view the grain direction as gospel in this sketch. To satisfy the naysayers, I will write a blog in the near future describing the inherent weakness of grain direction relative to stresses and forces.

So I took the time to change the grain direction on the legs, since it seems bothers some folks so much. And while I’m at it, there is framing in the back (not visible in this sketch) that would support the back. It’s moot at this point, as this is only a conceptual sketch and not a plan.
