Plan of the Week: Shutter Headboard

The Chief’s Shop Shutter Headboard is made by marrying upcycled old window shutters with new lumber to create a completely new piece. The shutters have been kept in their found condition to add a bit of rustic charm, and the entire piece is attached to the wall via a French cleat.

You’ll need a table saw (for creating the French cleat), miter saw, jigsaw, and drill to complete this project.

Sketch of the Day: Outdoor Coffee Table

Here is another sketch using old 1 x 6 pickets and a similar design. For this coffee table, I’ve removed the bottom rail to give it a less beefy look.

Sketch of the Day: Outdoor Bench

This is a continuation of the design I used in the Outdoor Stool sketch yesterday. Again, old 1 x 6 dog-eared pickets can get a second life as outdoor furniture with rustic charm.
