Plan of the Week: Home Office Desk

The Chief’s Shop Home Office Desk is a slightly undersized desk designed for laptop work. In addition to a computer, a printer/scanner, lamp, fan, and a few small items could fit on top. It requires some 1x2s, 1x3s, and 3/4-inch plywood. Overall dimensions: 41 1/2 inches wide x 30 3/4 inches deep x 29 3/4 inches high.

You’ll need a table saw or circular saw, miter saw, drill driver, and Kreg Jig to build it.

Sketch of the Day: Barrister Bookcase #woodworking

This concept pulls design elements from yesterday’s filing cabinet. As a barrister bookcase, it would ultimately have a glass front.

Plan of the Week: Outdoor Side Table #woodworking

The Chief’s Shop Outdoor Side Table is super easy and only requires four 2x4s. It’s meant to be used on a patio or deck, but you could also use it inside next to a sofa or chair or simply as an accent table. Overall dimensions: 21 inches wide x 14 inches deep x 27 inches high.

You’ll need a miter saw, drill driver, and Kreg Jig to build it.

Sketch of the Day: Outdoor Chair #woodworking

I took the love bench concept from yesterday and simply halved it to create this outdoor chair concept. The seat slats don’t extend as far as they do in the bench, but the rest is essentially the same, just on a smaller scale.

Sketch of the Day: Love Bench #woodworking

It’s not a love seat, it’s a love bench! OK, so this concept’s name is a bit corny, but I wanted to convey the idea that this bench concept would be just right for two people. I extended the seat slats a bit to create a small shelf off each end.
