Sketch of the Day: Garden Throne Coffee Table

This coffee table is another part of the garden throne series I’m developing. It’s essentially a shorter, but longer, version of the side table from yesterday.

Plan of the Week: Camp Bench

The Chief’s Shop Camp Bench is perfect for use in sitting around a campfire, especially when you build several. The angles on the end allow three benches to fit together to create a semi-circle. And of course, one works just fine on its own. Miter saw, jig saw, drill/driver and Kreg Jig® are all you need to build it.

Beginner Tip: How to Create a Handle Opening

Handle openings are good additions to jigs in the shop, as they make it easier to transport and hang on a hook. They’re also useful on trays, totes and stools, plus you don’t have to spend extra money like you would if you added a machined handle or pull.

For details on how to create a handle opening, click on the image below.

Sketch of the Day: Garden Throne

Probably too much viewing of Game of Thrones prompted me to name this concept a garden throne, but every queen or king of the garden deserves a special seat from which to survey their tiny realm. Or something like that.

Sketch of the Day: Storage Stool

This storage stool concept features a hand opening in the top, and a drop-down door opening on the side. I’d possibly add a friction hinge of some sort to the door of this were to become a plan.

Sketch of the Day: Modern Courtyard Bench

A bench concept with a slight skew, literally, with the arm rests tilting inward at a 15-degree angle. It would be great for a courtyard, deck, or patio.

Plan of the Week: Garden Stool

The Chief’s Shop Garden Stool – use it as a seat or as a step up when working in the garden. The shelf offers a bit of storage for tools and supplies. And when you’re done working, you can also use it as a side table or an ottoman to prop up your feet. Miter saw, jig saw, drill/driver and Kreg Jig® are all you need to build it.
