Plan of the Week: Shutter Headboard

The Chief’s Shop Shutter Headboard is made by marrying upcycled old window shutters with new lumber to create a completely new piece. The shutters have been kept in their found condition to add a bit of rustic charm, and the entire piece is attached to the wall via a French cleat.

You’ll need a table saw (for creating the French cleat), miter saw, jigsaw, and drill to complete this project.

Sketch of the Day: Chuck Box

This chuck box concept also is a response to Sketch of the Day requests on my Facebook page. I’ve left off handles, hinges, and supports, but you should get the idea. The stand is the carrying box flipped over.
