I was asked about open shelving for a kitchen, so…here’s a concept. It may not be what the person had in their mind, but it’s what came to mine. This would vary in length, or several positioned together and in rows. I have French cleats in mind for attaching to the wall.

I think a stool is one of the most versatile small furniture items you can make. You can use one as a stand for a plant, a place to set a drink (next to a chair), a footrest, a seat, or a step to help you reach something. I have one by the garage door that doubles as a place to stage paper recyclables before they go in the recycling bin.

The Chief’s Shop Beginner Side Table is a good starter project for new woodworkers and/or those new to pocket hole joinery. It’s about as basic as you can get, with only a small detail at the bottom of the legs. One size fastener is needed for the entire project. A miter saw, drill/driver, and Kreg Jig are needed to complete it (you can get by without a miter saw and use a handsaw or a circular saw instead).

A clothes hamper concept. It’s similar to one I worked on for Lowe’s several years ago, but this one features a lip and ledge to the lid, tapered legs, a detail on the rails, and slightly tapered legs.

I was recently asked about a solution for a small workshop including a concept like this wall-mounted work table. Unlike many I’ve seen, this one includes four legs instead of two. I would of course add a lot more structural support to the legs and probably would add rails to that the front set and back set were each one assembly. I also feel that some sort of storage is needed underneath the top (perhaps with doors), so that would be added as well.
