Sketch of the Day: Modern Courtyard Bench

A bench concept with a slight skew, literally, with the arm rests tilting inward at a 15-degree angle. It would be great for a courtyard, deck, or patio.

Quick Project: Mudroom Bench

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say. I had a lot of requests and interest in this today (today’s Sketch of the Day), so I decided to turn it into a Quick Project. This one is pretty down and dirty, so you may have questions as you get into it.

Sketch of the Day: Spectator Bench

This spectator bench concept would work well as a comfy seat for any sporting event. It’s roughly 7 feet long and features an angled edge.

Plan of the Week: Firepit Bench

For the Chief’s Shop Firepit Bench project I created a unique look and assembly method for the legs and a slightly different way of adding end rails. It’s primarily assembled using a Kreg Jig and can easily be knocked out in an afternoon. I designed it as a two-person bench to go around a firepit (hence the name), but you could customize the length and place it anywhere.  A miter saw, drill/driver, Kreg Jig, a 2×6 and some 2x4s are all you need to build it.

Sketch of the Day: Garden Corner Bench

I felt like this bench concept would look nice in a botanical garden setting, as I’ve “imagined” here in this sketch. It would work just as well in any outdoor setting, particularly on a deck. Note the details in the video below.
